What Would Claire Wear... to a Wedding

I recently attended a winter wedding (really... who has a wedding in the ides of January??). I had the biggest struggle regarding what to wear due to the season. Luckily, with much rummaging through Elizabeth Walker's closet, I was able to whip up this little ensemble. The look:

Dress: The long sleeves make it winter appropriate, the lace overlay keeps it romantic for the wedding obviously, and the un-underlined parts still keep it fun. I got more compliments on this dress than you could imagine. If it were colder outside I would have probably wore my trench coat on top with the sleeves pushed up just enough to see a peek of lace. (dress belongs to Liz)

Shoes:  The taller the shoes the better. These shoes must have been the best because my calves wanted to revolt by the end of the night. The shoes were subtly glam due to the height & design, yet very understated due to the color. If it were colder, I would have worn solid black tights with black heels.

Accessories: The three-tiered triangle earrings were Liz's. That added the much needed accessory to the upper region of my body. The clutch was my grandmothers on my dad's side of the family. So everyone was talking about it. Other than that I left the accessories pretty scarce, the dress really spoke for itself.

Hair & Makeup: My hair was in a wavy low pony parted down the center, with alot of wispys hanging down to keep it casual. My makeup was fairly natural but with the colors "bootycall", "chopper", and "YDK" from the Naked 2 pallet on my eyes.

Hope this helps you plan your outfit for those pesky winter weddings.

Au Revoir America!

I have a major announcement... Caroline and I are going to Paris for spring break! Not only are we going there, we are going by ourselves! **gasp! omg! just like Taken!** < I've heard that all before people. We are meeting my cousin who lives there so we won't be like wondering the streets or anything. So instead of worrying about me, please get excited! I will blog all about my adventures with my best friend in the city of lights and I will share tons of pictures as well! Just imagine all the fabulous things I can wear, the cafes with coffee and croissants in the mornings, the art museums, the SHOPPING, the boys, the clothes! It's all so exciting! The countdown is beginning people, 67 days. Cannot wait to let you guys experience the City of Lights with me and mon amour. (time for me to brush up on my French)

Golden Globes

Its my favorite season... awards season! The Golden Globes were the other night and I am here to discuss the fashion. We are going to discuss the good, the bad, and the down right ugly. Bare with me as I break down the fashions of the evening.

Salma Hayek (in Gucci)

- This is the epitome of Glam in my opinion. The dress is so Marilyn. It has the perfect amount of sparkle without being overwhelming (for overwhelming sparkle google Sofia Vergara's Golden Globes dress[the black one, not the navy... the navy is devine]). This is totally a hit for me.

Halle Berry (in Versace)

- Nothing about this dress is okay. I hate it. It looks like it came straight from the 1990's. It should be sent back there as well.Come on Halle, you could do so much better than this. A total miss in my book.

Kerry Washington (in Miu Miu)

- I LOVE this dress. It is so effortlessly chic, which every starlet should strive for. I wish I owned this dress. So perfect in every single imaginable way. Goodjob Kerry, keep doing what your doing girl.

Katharine McPhee (in Theyskens' Theory)

- This dress. So bold and daring. I really like it, although there is a very strong risk of her golden globes making an appearance. She was one of the best dressed there. Only she could pull this off without looking like a prostitute. It's a hit!

Sienna Miller (in Erdem)

- I don't know what to say. It's not spring, your not eighty, and this is not a tea party in England. It's all wrong... all so wrong.

Kate Hudson (in Alexander McQueen)

- Very glamorous. I love this dress, it reminds me of dear friend Liz. Very few people could wear this dress without looking like they're trying too hard, and she is one of them.

Amy Adams (in Marchesa)

- WINNER. This is my favorite dress of the night. This color is flawless on her. This dress is pure art. So fab... love love love this. Not very many things leave me speechless but this dress does.

What Would Claire Wear... to dinner

Hello bombshells!
I know everyone has those nights where all of their friends are lookin hot and ready to go eat dinner and your thinking, "why am I the ugliest person on the face of the earth/ where did all of my clothes go?". Well... at least that is what happens to me. So for nights like these I have had to establish a go to look that I can make different variations of according to who I am going eat with. Say if you are going to eat out with friends you would probably dress a little riskier than when you go out to eat with your grandparents. Be practical yet chic. So here are a few staples that I would throw together according to venue and company:

Tops-

-This top is very fun and flirty all while being sophisticated and classy. It is a great first date kind of shirt. This shirt is up for anything and can handle any situation with poise and elegance.

 - This top is very sharp. It should be worn to a nice restaurant, where you would want to impress people. It says "Hey everyone look at me! I'm hot AND successful." and well... who doesn't want that?

- This shirt is very casual and conservative. Wear this to brunch with the family or maybe to go get burgers or something casual like that. Since it is a long shirt it could be paired with leggings to emphasize the effortlessly chic look or half way tucked into a fitted skirt for a quick bite at a family oriented restaurant.

Bottoms:

Fitted High- Waisted Black Skinny Jeans- aka the jeans hand stitched by Jesus Christ. These pants can be found anywhere really but Urban Outfitters has an amazing pair that I like to call my own. The can be dressed up or down with any of the shirts seen above.

Fitted Black Skirt- This the alternative to the black skinny jeans, all the same rules apply. You can even add a sassy print pair of tights with it for an extra hint of fun.

Shoes:

Black Pumps-  This really dresses up the outfit. Wear them with the red top and black jeans and you are first date ready. Wear them with the black peplum and fitted black skirt and you are ready for a sophisticated night at the chicest new restaurant. caution: avoid wearing them with sweater, it clashes.

Sassy Flats- cheetah print, studded, royal blue... the options are endless. Find a good pair of practical yet fun flats that you can wear with all outfits. Of coarse black is always a safe bet but step outside of your comfort zone and get an interesting pair. They will really spice things up all while keeping the outfit relaxed.

Hope this helps you establish some guidelines for dinning attire! xoxo

Goals for 2013

Now that the new year has rung in it is time for me to put everything into perspective... set some goals and such. Although they are bound to broken due to my lack of perseverance, I will try my very hardest to keep these goals up.

- loose 10 pounds... heck, everyone else is attempting to lose weight and I could always use a lighter physique.

- blog more. I have been depriving my poor little followers of my witty comments, and I am deeply sorrowed for that. So this year I will try to get in at the very least 2 posts a week. It may not seem like that many but too much of a good thing can be overwhelming. And of coarse I want you guys coming back for more ;)

- be nicer. I tend to be very sassy, so I want to drop the sass (not totally of coarse) and become a nicer person for the benefit of the people around me.

- find a boyfriend. Although this may sound lame, I have never really dated anyone seriously so its time. Literally ALL of my friends have someone, so I'm the leftovers. I like to think I have such a hard time finding someone due to the incredibly high standards my father has set.

Hope your resolutions are kept. 2013 should be a fabulous year<3
