Spring '13

As we are now entering into spring it is time to choose my favorite spring fashions! This is a time for fresh colors and statement pieces. Easily one of my favorite seasons to dress for..
  • 60's prints
    • They are totally having a moment here people. So classic yet so new. Louis Vuitton's spring 2013 collection encompasses these prints. But they are not limited to checkered designs, bold stripes and controlled polka dots work as well.

  • White
    • Although we all know black on black is my thing, this season I am making it a point to try the ever-so-fresh look of white on white. This is the classic color of spring and if done the right way can make a HUGE style statement.
  • Bold Lipstick
    • Spring is the time to wear brighter lipsticks. I prefer hot pinks, cotton candy pinks, and oranges. So fun! Emma Stone is a master of lipsticks (obviously.. Revlon chose her to endorce their lipsticks).

  • Fun colored bags
    • I just purchased a blush colored purse for the spring season! This is the perfect time to stray from a typical black/white/camel/taupe bag and pull off a color as a neautral. Obviously there can be colorful clutches for special occasions but this is one of the only seasons that you can carry a colored bag around all the time regardless of what your wearing! How fun is that? **all bags courtesy of Urban Outfitters** yes the pink one featured is my own

Things I Hate

I am not a bitter person, believe me, but there are some (a lot) of things in this world that really put me on edge.

*Ketchup. It is disgusting

*Boutique style clothing. HATE IT. It is far too "trendy" and it all looks exactly the same... the same material, the same bright colors, the same cheesy patterns... ugh I seriously can't stand it. When I see people who wear boutique-style clothing it literally makes me mad, please stop trying so hard.

*Copiers. Please find your own thing.

*Basically the rest of the world while I am driving. (see video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0i_5YBnQdac

*Orange tans. Need I say more?

*Pantylines. Please invest in a thong... or just don't wear panties, see what I care, as long as there is no mysterious lines running across your butt telling stories of the granny panties your wearing.

all good things must come to an end

Well, as I prepared myself for the end of the year cheerleading banquet I came to a sad realization that this is the end of this squad. Sure, I will cheer again next year for my senior year but it will be with a totally different squad. For the current seniors, their cheerleading career is coming to an end. I am the type of person who never wants to see things end, I cried for a solid two hours when I finished Gossip Girl. But if things never end then you can never move on. If I were to never finish sulking over my back injury (which don't get me wrong, I still do sometimes) then I would never be where I am right now, which is walking and even better than that, I'm cheering! Now I am finished with that whole chapter and I am moving onto to the next. So even though the end brings tears and goodbyes, it is the perfect time to reminisce on everything it has taught you and all the great memories it has bestowed upon your heart. I am surely going to miss all of my senior friends, but I genuinely cannot wait to become close with the new squad next year.

http://vanessaruns.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/disney-castle.gif
On Friday, March 1, I am going to Disney World! Considering I have had practice 24/7 and a ton of homework I have not been able to give you guys the usual insight into my brain. My squad and I are competing at Contest of Champions on Sunday. We have been working very hard and hopefully it will pay off. I will be sure to keep you dolls updated! I will not be wearing anything particularly chic since we have coordinating squad t shirts and such! Have a great rest of the week, I will be sure to blog while I'm there and obvi when I get home. xoxo- Claire

Glam

Dictionary.com defines glamour as "the quality of fascinating, alluring, or attracting, especially by a combination of charm and good looks.", however to me being glamorous is something only you can define. In my eyes, being glamorous is feeling great about yourself and what your wearing. If I am wearing a seriously killer outfit and just know I look great, that is when I feel most glamorous. Glamour can also be defined by your attitude. If you think "I am ugly and have bad clothes" then you are ugly and have bad clothes. If you think "I look great today and my outfit is right on cue", then you are. I mean given I have days where I feel like sh!t but those days can so easily be compensated by looking fabulous the next. Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats getting looks from strangers because you know you look like a celebrity. It is truly a great, genuine feeling. So strive for being glamorous, the feeling it gives you is uncompromisable and really worth the extra ten minutes of getting ready.

"To me glamour isn't about being sparkly" -Tori Amos

Rest in Peace

"The death of someone we know always reminds us that we are still alive – perhaps for some purpose which we ought to re-examine."-  Mignon McLaughlin
It deeply saddens me to have to be writing this, but my community experienced a tragic loss last night. Under circumstances that will be left unsaid one innocent young boy was taken from this world and two others have been left with emotional scars that will forever taint them. These three freshmen, all fifteen, we're victims of an unfortunate and cruel shooting. Luckily two were spared their lives and the sweetest little guy was not so lucky. Austin Rivault, from what I hear and see, was the happiest and kindest soul. I never had the pleasure of knowing him during his short time on earth but nonetheless was I shaken up by this loss.

A prayer vigil was held at my school for the victims and 500+ people showed up to support and mourn the loss of Austin. This shows much of his character. He was a little guy who made a huge impact on my school and my community. I believe that God only takes people back when they have done their job. Austin made a big enough impact on everyone's lives as to where He wanted him back. Now the whole St Thomas More family has a sweet angel looking down on us and protecting us.

This community has truly come together to support the families and Austin has made everyone grateful for their lives and loved ones. He showed us how to love again in a world that is not loving.
Thank you Austin for putting our lives into perspective. You will never be forgotten, even by those who never got to know you. Keep a watchful eye on us all, we're sending you prayers buddy. RIP

xoxo
