What Would Claire Wear: ballin'

Down in South Louisiana we are in the midst of Mardi Gras season. In the past month or so I have already attended 3 balls. I have one more to go to, so that dress will come later. I absolutely love the ambiance of Mardi Gras. It is crazy and fun and everyone dances. If you have never been to a ball before in South LA I would HIGHLY recommend you do so.

• Green Dress
• I wore this one to a smaller ball. It was a little more casual as well. It was such a flattering shape on me and was definitly fun to dance in. This was easily one of the best balls I've been to. They had a great band that played classic oldies like "Paradise City" and "Don't Stop Believing". 
• I accesorized my dress with a gold bow cuff and dramatic eye makeup (not seen). My hair was in long loose waves. I wore the shoes seen in far right picture.

• Silver Sparkle Dress
• This dress was for a more formal ball. This is not the best picture of it but it is one of the only ones I have of the night (*sigh). It was long sleeved and super fitted. It had a slit coming up the front to around right above my knee. I wore skinny nude pumps and had on rather neutral makeup since the dress really spoke for itself. I wore big curls and little sparkly stud earrings. 

• Taupe Dress
• The third dress was the one that I wore to a children's ball. This was the most casual one. It was just a simple baby doll dress with lace at the top and the back lace did not have underlining. It was a very sweet dress if I do say so myself. I had on wine lipstick and rosy eye shadow. A little piece of my hair was pulled back with little bobby pins that have a pearl on the end. I also wore my fur coat there although it is not pictured. 

I have one more ball coming up and the dress has yet to be decided! But don't worry bitches, I will prevail.

So I know I am not the only person who has a little music video play in their head when they hear a certain song. Well I have spent far too much time thinking of this. It has gotten to the point where I literally can't hear the song without thinking of it. However, I mind don't really mind. It actually makes me quite happy.

• Okay so picture this, a foggy, dark field and me in a flowey long black dress. I am riding a (get this) dark horse in slow motion. Now if I actually tried to do this my chubby cheeks bouncing in slow mo would probably distract the poor people from my pure evil queen-ness.

• I see myself in the club in this music video just being fierce and such. Enter hot guy and I am surrounded by my friends. We keep making eye contact all night and while I do seductive things and then we dance and such and it is just super sexy.

• This is one of my happiest music videos. So me and my boyf go to an outdoor wedding and its summer and the wedding is on a  beautiful plantation (kind of like The Last Song wedding) and at night all of the fireflies come out and we are popping fire works and playing with sparklers and cuddling... cut to dance scene. The dance floor is laid out in the grass and there are twinkling lights hanging all over and we danced the night away. UGH IF ONLY.

V-Day

Happy Valentine's day darlings! Well if you are anything like me... you will be celebrating palentine's day. What Would Claire Wear: Black and White Brunch Day

So I love a good brunch/errand/bookstore day. What better way to spend these days than in a fabulous outfit! This has to be one of my favorite outfits I've ever worn... in my top 10 at least. I must credit this outfit to Kyle. Basically everything I am wearing is hers.

• Top
• This top is from Banana Republic. I was actually with Kyle when she got it, 30% off while Black Friday shopping, HOLLAA. PS please excuse my arm fat... hella embarrassing. 

• Bottoms
• I wore my nice pair of black jeans from Urban Outfitters. High waisted... holds me in . These are my newer pair. I have a really faded super skinny pair that I wear with more casual tops. 

• Shoes
• I <3 these shoes. They are also Kyle's... but at least I can borrow them anytime. She's a good pal. They are just little taupe booties with a zipper up the side. They are seriously precious in person. 

• Accessories
• I am not a huge accessory person. I read a quote along the lines of "Dressing is like cooking, if you use nice, expensive ingredients you don't need much seasoning" which I find incredibly relate-able. However, on this day I actual accessorized quite a bit. I wore this fabulous pair of gold hoops (also Kyle's) and a gold bow bracelet. I also carried around my favorite pink purse. 

• Hair/Makeup 
• I was slacking hair and makeup wise. I had a long night the night before so I just did casual makeup. I used my Naked 3 pallet to get rosey eyes. My hair was wanded the night before for an art show that I went to for my talented best friends, Caroline and Elizabeth, and I just slept with it down and this was the result. Don't judge me for being so disheveled.

What a good day it was. One of my favorite hobbies is dressing up and running errands. I enjoy the look people give when I dress fabulously... It's my motivation.

Moral of this post:

• Find great, fabulous friends that have great, fabulous wardrobes that you can borrow.

Shopping on sites like Etsy can be either a hit or a miss. Whenever you do find something incredible it is totally worth all of the tacky things you looked at before. It is like a treasure hunt! Here are a few of my favorite Etsy picks.

Heart Clutch

• This clutch is such a subtle, fun element to add to any outfit. It is black so it is still understated but the shape keeps it lively and adds dimension to a grown up color and style. 

Cocktail Dress

• Okay so people, before you think I have lost it let's look at the big picture. Imagine if this dress was taken in to be super fitted and I wore pearl earrings with my hair half up on one side and nude pumps and a gold clutch?? Come on... you know that would be so chic. It is very Charlotte from Sex and the City.

Nationals'14

Now... I am not one to normally do sappy personal posts but I thought this was a worthy occasion. Since this is my last year cheering, I wanted to dedicate a post to twenty four of my best friends. These are the friends that I could talk to for hours on end about cheering without them getting fed up with me. These are the people that understand the aches and pains that I feel the day after practice. These are the friends who I trust with my whole heart, they only want to see me succeed just as I only want to see them try their hardest at each and every skill they present. We have a different kind of friendship. Sure, none of us know every aspect of each others lives but we know what happens at practice and this connects us on a whole new level. Meet my 24 sisters...

 

1. Maddy- captain and pretty much cheerleader extraordinaire. She really has a heart of gold and has the best interest in mind for the squad. 
2. Ginnie- co-captain and hella fierce. She is one of those people who makes everyone feel special and has killer style... she literally always looks like a million bucks.
3. Ellen- the core of the squad is Ellen. She is an incredible base and I would probably trust her with my life. If I had to pick a song to go with Ellen it'd be this one.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6ihCQZK-r0
4. Caroline- she probably looks familiar to you guys. She is my best friend and I cannot say too much more without being ridiculously cheesy. But she has a no bull shit attitude when it comes to cheerleading which is necessary for our squad's success. 
5. Alaina- just thinking about her warms my heart. She is pretty much my day one niqqa considering I met her in Pre-K. She is a breathe of fresh air that brightens my day. 
6. Katherine- Kat is a free spirit. She does not care what anyone thinks about her and I wish I could be more like that! 
7. Caroline (aka Kyle)- For those of you confused, Kyle's real name is Caroline but she is starting to go by her middle name. She has some of the most unrecognized talent. She also has unrecognized beauty... she really should get wayyyy more credit. Kyle is easily one of the greatest people I know. 
8. Emily- She works very hard for what she wants. She also has an "I don't care what you think of me" attitude. 
9. Ashley- Ash wins diva of the squad. Every single overnight stay we have had for cheerleading (whether it be Nationals or camp or just a squad sleepover) Ashley always has her robe and shower cap in hand. I have even found her doing face masks and such... she is a woman of my own heart. 
10. Amy- Amy has a very special place in my heart. She was there when I got hurt and I owe her so much. She and her mom are basically the reason I can walk today. 
11. Mary- I LOVE THIS CHICK. She is an incredible tumbler and also an incredible friend. She would probably do just about anything for me.
12. Sam- She is such an amazing cheerleader. I am seriously begging her to do college cheerleading. She just has so much talent and she is one of the funniest people I know. 
13. Madison- Madison is literally destined to be a Disney princess, like Belle. She is so nice to every single person, she just has incredible morals. I really admire her. 
14. Catherine- Kitty should be a Barbie doll. She is stunning, has great grades, participates in other extra curricular's, and still maintains to be nice. (bitch). 
15. Hannah- Hannah is one of the most naturally pretty people I know. She always looks flawless. (She can literally say "I woke up like dis" and people would be impressed... whereas if I said it people would just feel bad for me). 
16. Lauren- She is the nicest person on the squad and works so stinking hard! She goes all out every single time. I admire her as a person and as a cheerleader. Lauren is so beautiful, inside and out.
17. Claudia- Claudia also has unrecognized talent. She really is such a great cheerleader and I absolutely love hearing her sassy comments under her breathe... I live for that shit.
18. Camille- She is the comic relief for the squad. Camille works really hard and also tries to keep a smile on everyone's faces. I just love that about her. 
19. Alyssa- I kind of think of Alyssa as my protege. She is so fabulous! She also has so many great things to say. I hope she continues to be fab forever, that is something to strive for. 
20. Amanda- Poor Mandy... always taking one for the team. She has seriously been beat up all year and still somehow wants to participate. *Snaps for Amanda*
21. Annie- what a dime! Annie is A). Beautiful and B). very loud. The makings for a great cheerleader.
22. Olivia- Olivia is so sweet. She always makes me feel so great about myself which I genuinely appreciate. She is also an incredible base, another person I would trust with my life. 
23. Katie- She is another comic relief for the squad. She works very hard and is an incredible dancer. KTB also has awesome hair. 
24. Abigail- and if people think that I am sassy they must not have met Abigail. She says what she wants when she wants which is great. I love honesty. She also has black girl hair and understands the everyday struggle of trying to be fabulous without looking ghetto fabulous. 

Hope you all enjoyed a little intro to 24 of the most beautiful, diverse, talented, and caring girls I know. I love each and every one of my sisters.

 Everyone get excited! Fashion Week starts tomorrow! I literally started tearing up in my first hour class this morning because I was so excited. You know that feeling that you get when you talk to a crush? Where you get butterflies in your stomach and feel like you're floating... I get that same feeling when seeing great clothing.
